About the artist

I'm Steve Foote, during the day, I run the design consultancy Tin Racer near Oxford, England.

Through listening to lounge and then exotica music I discovered the steamy world of 50’s tiki, combined with my long time interest in hot rod kulture and chopper bicycles this helped to sculpt Tikiracer.

My art is created using mixed media and brought into the computer to colour and layout.

My art quality giclée prints are supplied on Hahnemuhle 310 gsm, acid free archival paper.

This website displays limited edition prints, merchandise and showcases a few of my other pieces.

I’m looking for commissions either private, editorial or commercial.

tikiracer first racerWelcome to my artist website, a heady cocktail of low brow exotica tiki hot rod art. All mixed with a transatlantic syrup of european kool cars and toys.

It's a mixed pudding of 50's America and Britain with a twist of Hawaii and Polynesian. I want to mess with legend and myth and look for new ways to illustrate the recent rebirth of Tiki.

tikiracer hot rodArtist Statement

Influences - hot rod, hot wheels, comic books, sci-fi, japanese movies, kids cartoons, exotica music, lounge music, 1950's hope and wonder, toys and computers. I grew up in the very birth of home computers, ZX81 and vic20's. I still find them amazing tools for communication and creation.

My approach - I'm creating a real moulinex of my brain. Using multi media, sponge prints, ink and computers to pull it all together. I trained as a graphic designer for 4 years and have always been in the industry. I really enjoy the challenge of solving clients creative problems, everyday. What Tikiracer gives me is the chance to work without a client, audience or brief to influence and reflect.

Tikiracer is a reflection of me. Or what I will be.

This is just the start of my work, not sure exactly where this will end up, but I'm going to enjoy the ride. I hope you do too.
